<![CDATA[Taking Back the Radio - Is Black Lives Matter Being Used Against Black Business?]]>

An update on Black Lives Matter's funding, and network.

A mystery brand. Everyone is affiliated, and then no one is affiliated. They were the ‘world’s greatest leaders’ and then immediately following questioning about specifics were a “leaderless” movement. While still receiving funding. When recently questioned about where the donation money sent to BLM goes, Deray McKesson, Johnetta Elzie, and Talib Kweli all denied being part of the group. Despite supporting the rise of the brand over the recognition of the grassroots businesses, organizations, and activists who started the movement. Many, who represented the causes being fought for through experience, not ‘activism.’ As documented by original Ferguson activists, organizers and leaders, Black Lives Matter simply came in and took recognition for work they didn't do.

When recently questioned on Twitter, Kweli stated that he was not affiliated with the organization, and did not know where the money collected went. He was then asked if Black Lives Matter was being used against black businesses and brands. He did not provide an answer to that question. However he did briefly defend the organization.

How the brand is being used is extremely important. Especially since it is being used as the de facto organization for not only addressing police corruption, but all issues affecting black people. They are soliciting funds on behalf of victims and ‘black people,’ but are those funds being used to compete against the very people they are supposed to be supporting? Specifically, are donations being used for special interest that in turn are being used against other black businesses, organizations, and activists that are driving the movement?
